My name is Sorin Matei and I’m a 28 year-old artist. I have a great passion for all visual arts, especially in the digital domain.

I was raised in the city of Oradea/Nagyvárad (Romania), but spent most school vacations in the beautiful Transylvanian countryside at my grandparents village, where time seemed endless. As my ambitions grew, so did the taste for city life. So my inspiration comes from both worlds, the rural past and urban future.

In 2007, after finishing the Faculty of Arts, here in Oradea, I struggled finding a good-paying job using my art skills. If you aren’t a doctor, lawyer, banker or IT Expert, you are nothing in Romania. So I tried for Medicine school, bur after 2 years of study, something pulled me back to my beloved arts.

So, in 2011, I made a promise to myself never giving up again and since then I’ve been living happily as a freelance artist.

Ma numesc Matei Sorin si sunt un artist de 28 de ani. Am o pasiune mare pentru toate artele vizuale, in special cele digitale.

Am crescut in orasul Oradea/Nagyvárad (Romania), dar mi-am petrecut vacantele de scoala in peisajul ardelenesc de la tara la bunicii mei in sat, unde timpul parea nesfarsit. Pe masura ce-mi cresteau ambitiile, la fel si gustul pentru viata de oras. Asa ca inspiratia mea provine din ambele lumi, trecutul rural si viitorul urban.

In 2007, dupa ce am terminat Facultatea de Arte, aici in Oradea, m-am zbatut sa gasesc o slujba bine platita folosindu-ma de abilitatile mele artistice. Daca nu esti doctor, avocat, bancher sau expert IT, atunci nu esti nimic in Romania. Asa ca am incercat sa fac Medicina, insa dupa 2 ani de studiu, ceva m-a tras inapoi catre indragitele mele arte.

Asa ca, in 2011, mi-am facut promisiunea sa nu ma mai las niciodata batut si de atunci traiesc fericit ca si artist freelancer.
