My carpets are designed from the ground up starting from a blank canvas, a basic rectangular to fit in a space. But to define the use of space and movement on the carpet, I chose the pattern to be asymmetric. My aesthetics principle is less is more, but go too far and it’s none. So I built my pattern on what is the least amount of shapes to make a recognizable textile pattern and to use it only once. I went for one of the most basic repeatable patterns, the tartan in the most minimalistic way possible.

Mattoni suunnitelman perusta on tyhjä nelikulmio tilassa. Tilankäytön ja liikkeen määrittelemiseksi päädyin epäsymmetriseen, mutta graafiseen kuvioon. Filosofiani on, että vähemmän on enemmän, mutta liian vähän ei ole mitään. Valitsin kuvion perustuen mahdollisimman vähiin komponentteihin jotka kuitenkin vielä muodostavat tunnistettavan kuvion. Lopputuloksena on minimalistinen tartan-tyylinen kuosi, jota käytetään vain kerran.

I’m a multidisciplinary designer from Finland. I’ve designed art and architecture installations, websites, textiles, houses, products, stationery, advertising, urban masterplans, games, interiors, services, lighting, gardens, furniture and artworks to name a few.

For me a good design is an art of mixing things. My design philosophy is to get to the core of the problem and make my way up from there. To break down the problem and assemble the components again. I combine my experiences together with the components to create a new design based on this unique story.

Olen monialainen suunnittelija Suomesta. Olen suunnitellut installaatioita, verkkosivustoja, tekstiileitä, taloja, tuotteita, painotuotteita, mainoksia, asuinalueita, pelejä, sisustuksia, palveluita, valaistuksia, puutarhoja, huonekaluja ja taideteoksia.

Minulle hyvä suunnittelu merkitsee asioiden sekoittamista. Designfilosofiani on paneutua suunnitteluongelman ytimeen ja lähteä siitä liikkeelle. Puran ongelman osatekijöiksi ja kokoan osaset uudelleen. Lopullinen suunnitelma on näiden osatekijöiden ja omien kokemuksieni yhdessä muodostava uniikki tarina.
